IN MEMORY OF TERRY STILLSON
Terry Stillson, mentor colleague, friend and faithful member
of the Dallas Dental Hygienists' Society, passed away on March 19, 2003, at her
home in Dallas.
Terry was from Ohio and graduated from Ohio State
University, School of Dental Hygiene. She was a member of Ohio State's National
Championship Team of Synchronized Swimming in 1973. During her career as a
hygienist she was actively involved in enhancing the profession as a delegate
to the ADHA in both New York and Texas. In addition, she was president of the
New York Dental Hygienists' Association and advocated for the professional
advancement of dental hygienists. Terry later developed back problems and had
to leave clinical dental hygiene behind to pursue other endeavors, especially
the role of Mom!
As the loving mother of Katy, Terry's life centered
upon the nurturing of her daughter. For the past four years Terry was the
Assistant Troop Leader for Katy's group. Dedicating her efforts to guiding
young women to richer fuller lives "in the girl scout way" she found
fulfillment and happiness in her own life through the shared experiences with
her daughter, Katy, while at the same time making a valuable contribution to
the community.
Devoted wife of Jim Stillson, Men's and Women's Diving
Coach at SMU, her assistance and support made her an integral part of the
University Family over the past twenty years. She will be greatly missed by her
loving family, friends and colleagues. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of
all those she touched.
If you would like to pay tribute to her memory,
please send gifts to: The Terry Stillson Memorial Fund, Girl Scouts of Tejas
Council 539, 10119 Chimney Hill, Dallas, TX 75243.
A beautiful memorial
service was held on March 24, 2003 at the Northpark Presbyterian Church. It was
a very uplifting service and most people found they were smiling quietly at the
memories!
Condolences may be sent to Jim Stillson and Katy, 9425
Whittenburg Gate, Dallas, TX 75243. |
