Greetings! On behalf of all the members of DDHS, welcome to
our website. You will find lots of great information on volunteer opportunities
in our community and on how to become an active member of DDHS. Enjoy your look
around!
This year, the society's main goal is membership. Our board has
been working hard all summer thinking up innovative ways of attracting new
members. If we can change one hygienist's status, we have met our goal!
Membership means different things to different people and DDHS tries to meet
those needs. Whether it's sharing fellowship and networking at our meetings, or
making a positive impact through our volunteer outreach opportunities, I urge
you, access the ADHA website and change your status today!
Upcoming:
This year DDHS has invited a variety of notable guest
speakers who will be addressing a wide variety of topics. Please refer back to
the flyer that was sent out in August for a complete listing. Remember, 1.5 CEU
are given in attendance for each meeting. Additional postcards will be sent out
each month reminding you of upcoming CE courses. Come join us for dinner, CE,
and camaraderie!
Dallas is the site for the 2007 TDHA Annual Session. It
will be held at the Omni Dallas Park West Hotel September 28-30. Please plan to
attend. It is a great opportunity to meet new people, mingle with old friends
and discuss the legislative issues that affect all of us.
DDHS will be
hosting their 2nd annual wine tasting night, Friday, January 25, 2008. A
Bowl-a-Thon is in the works and raffles will be held at all meetings. The
society will also be sponsoring a CE course in late April along with the
co-sponsoring of Hygiene CE Express and Frieda Pickett, RDH at the Southwest
Dental Conference. Keep checking the website and newsletter for dates and
times.
DDHS will continue its Fluoride Varnish Program at Mark Twain
Elementary School on October 5th and again on February 8th . We will also be
continuing our long-standing mentor program with the senior hygiene students at
Baylor. We have many other volunteer opportunities available for our members,
check them out!
New this year will be a DDHS fundraising event. We will
be selling t-shirts, sweatshirts, key chains and coffee mugs. All will display
the infamous RDH on them!
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to
serve you as president of DDHS this year. I have to extend many thanks to the
board members who have worked hard all summer to bring this upcoming year
together. It is sure to be a memorable one! |
